Welcome to my Professional Portfolio!

My name is Elizabeth Cashwell, I'm from Concord, North Carolina, and I am a student at Gardner-Webb University.  I will be graduating May 16, 2011 with a degree in English and a minor in Professional Education.  Upon graduation, I will be licensed to teach English grades 9-12.  Housed on this website, is my professional portfolio including information about my views on teaching, my goals for my students, including state objectives, and how I incorporate those goals in the classroom.
My student teaching practicum, which so far has been my primary source of experience, was at Rutherford-Spindale Central High School in Rutherfordton, NC.  My cooperating teacher at R.S. Central High School was Tami Shelton.  Ms. Shelton not only provided me with useful advice, but also gave me every opportunity to learn and grow as a professional, during my teaching experience.  I observed Ms. Shelton at the beginning of student teaching, but I quickly jumped into the teacher role after a couple of weeks, and taught two standard English 2 classes as well as Advanced Placement Language and Composition.  My portfolio includes examples of some students' work in these classes, as well as lesson examples and unit overviews.  Please feel free to check it out!
